Good morning everyone here is my question. I started my first reef tank a few days ago with 49 pounds of dry rock and 15 pounds of live rock. I am trying to seed the dry rock. Do I have to feed the bacteria on the live rock? If so how do I do that?

Don't go too crazy. I'll leave a small piece of market shrimp in the tank for about a week or provide food for the bacteria.

It's been years since I've had a reef setup but at that time I didn't add anything but the live rock and some of the life on it died imo aided in the cycle provided food for the bacteria that survived . Tbh don't know the routine of cycling a reef aquarium today.

From my experience that will happen organically with BB growing on/in your dedicated host environment. Everywhere eventually for that matter.

Hello TheOscarFishKing, congrats on your new new reef tank! I am a tech support agent from Seachem Laboratories. If your question is about curing live rock, we have an excellent bacteria supplement for that need. It is called Stability, you can dose that into the water column, and it will provide bacteria for the tank that can kick start the cycling process as well as take off any die-off from the live rock. If you'd like to know more about Stability, here is a link http://www.seachem.com/stability.php.
Thanks,
