Cycling time research

The objective of this thread is to create a data bank containing 1) the time it took to cycle different tanks; 2) the general infos on those tanks (gallons, type of filtration, temperature, cycling method (with fish or fishless, old or new water, new or old filtration medias from an established tank)...); 3) if possible a graph of the different params during the cycling process (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates).

This bank, if containing enough datas, will contribute to a better understanding of the cycling process. I will laterly compil the results and post them on MFK.

i dont know about when i set up the tank but i know i had an issue where i had to buy a new HOB filter it took me from 02/08/10 through today to get the amonia and nitrite level under control and its still not perfect but its darn close


sorry my tank is a 30 gallon

my tank was fully stocked when this happend some did not make it

Thanks for sharing your experience. Does a new HOB filter mean new filter media ?
 
it was a new out of the box filter and filter media as wll as a plastic case that holds peat moss to try and keep the ph a lill lower than my tap of 8.4-8.6 so every thing was new
