Cycling with Gold Fish

Hello All,

I'm a newbie to the hobby so forgive me for my dumb questions...

I just purchased a 55 gal tank on Sunday and the fish store I purchased the tank from gave me water conditioner and 4 gold fish to cycle the tank. After reading all the posts about how to cycle your tank made me regret using the gold fish. Tonight I'm going to buy a water tester kit and start testing my water. Should I take the gold fish out and start using another tropical fish to cycle my tank? What would be the best way to cycle the tank now that I have already have 4 gold fish?

Should I keep the gold fish while using stability?

Stability is basically bacteria in a bottle. You can have fish the same time you dose.
