Hello All....
I just set up a 150 gallon....I'm using a Fluval 404 and 2xAC 300's.
I took my 404 from a tank that has been running for a year and I took 2 sponges that have been used for a yaer and put them in the AC 300's....
Would you consider this an instant cycle by using this "cultured" media?
I've done it before without issue but I'm cautious with attempting a couple of Rays in a tank with week old fresh water...
Thoughts?
Thank You!

is there other fish in the tank to feed the bacteria in the filters??? if so you should be good i have done this several times in the past if not the bacteria has allready started dying off and youll need to cycle

I switched over the filter and media as i landed my two Motoro's......
They have been feeding for 3 days and the water still is clear...this tells me that there is no bacteria bloom....so I figure (cautiously) that the tank should be good to go...

I always do this as I have the same filters on all my tanks. set up a new one..mature media goes to the fresh tank. I figure this is an instant cycle.
