Cycling...

I read a lot about Cycling a new tank...anything that I should do specifically for an African Cichlid 55 gallon?

are you cycling w fish or doing a fishless cycle

Without fish is the easiest. That way you can build up a lot of benefical bacteria,and add all of your Aficans at once too. Rather then adding them slowly,and letting the bacteria catch up.

i set up my 55g african cichlid tank using fish to cycle. ijust couldnt stand not to have fish. you have to really watch your levels when your using fish to cycle (well, if you want them to live) and keep up on water water changes. i guess its more of personal preference than anything else really

What about this... When my new 90 gets here if i drain all of my water from my 55 that is cycled and perfect would i be able to skip the fishless cycle?

absolutely not, beneficial bacteria is NOT free floating in the water column. it is an organism that lives in and on surfaces, such as bio media and substrate
