i was wondering if anyone has used cypress knees to decorate there tank with. im looking at buying some but im not sure if they are a good idea.

they look like this

im just not sure if they would be safe for my fish. dont want them getting hurt since they look kind of pointy.. but i think they would look good in a tank mixed in with some talller plants. and i havent seen a tank with them being used so it would be kinda unique.

thanks for any help

Cypress should be okay, but the one in the middle and the one on the far left look like they've been stained, which could be harmful depending on what they're stained with.

Tannins are harmless. They just color the water. Nothin' some carbon can't get rid of.

im not worried about the tannins.. i barely soak my drift wood before i put it in my tanks..

as far as i know they havent seen stained. just stripped of there bark..

i can get some with bark im just not sure if i want them with bark or not:confused:
