cypress knees

Has anyone ever put cypress knee's in a tank?Can they be used without problems?

Cypress is the only wood i have used (locally available)
Slight discoloration of water but boiling helps prevent this and aids sinkage

They are also slightly acidic, at least at first, but not bad.

I only use iron wood if you live in so cal or in so az then it is easy to find

Thanks for the replies guy's.How long should they be soaked for after boiled to get rid of the acid?
