Guys, looking for a recommendation on which Cyprichromis to keep and how many. I am going to purchase from Resrve Stock Cichlids so I do have some limitations. Tank is a 185 Deep Sea Aquatics 60 x 30 x 25. Tank is currently housing Julidichromis Regani Kipili (9) and Red Fin Lufubu Comps (5). I plan on adding the Cyps and either some Transcriptus Gombe and or Caudopunks. Thoughts??

In that big of a tank I would go for at least 12. If they're young, get like 25 and after you can sex them (usually around 3+ inches) you can pick your numbers for your group, male to female ratio and all that. Popular ones right now are kitumba and moba speckleback, for example. It's really up to you and what colors you're looking for. You'll enjoy them I have a group of 15 in with my petros and they are a great addition to any tank.....except maybe front tankmates!

Is sand the substrate?

I recently saw a group of Neon blue points that were awesome. All cyps, IMO, look great as long as the tankmates are suitable and it setup to met there needs.

We are going to need pics. soon....

anyone keep some with tropns?

I'm gonna assume you meant trophs... My buddy keeps a group of kitumba cyps with his ikola trophs. The trophs are spawning well but I don't know about the cyps. I keep my cyps with petrochromis and they spawn like absolute rabbits. They do very well together.

really... I was always told that trophs and cyps were a no no... well then... I will be looking for some to go with my cherry spot colony

Yeah, I think that mainly had to do with diet. With NLS you'll be fine with both though. My petros and trophs get krill or mysis 2x a week too, so between the nls, dianichi and the treats the cyps and tankmates receive enough of what they need to get the females into spawning condition. I think another concern was that the trophs would harass the cyps but I haven't seen that to be a problem.
