hi guys & gals....need advise here. Would it possible to add 3 frontosa (about 2.5" - 3" ) to a 55 gallon (grow out) tank that already has 4 cyrtocara moorii about 4.5" - 5"? Would the moorii bully the front or problem feeding the frontosa? My lfs has stock for the frontosa and i would love to have them...

Moori and fronts are often kept together. I have read that most of the trouble comes during spawning time with the moori. If your fish are in the 4 inch range they might be a bit territorial by now and able to damage the smaller fronts. I would try to do it but have a divider ready or a seperate temporary tank for the little fronts if you run into problems. I have a moori and noticed they grow way slower than even the fronts who are not known for fast growth rates so the fronts would likely catch up to the moori in about six to eight months.

The mooris are more likely to pick on the front if its just 1, if you have 1 male thats 4.5 you can add the smaller ones, because the fronts will all stay together on 1 side of the tank, and the alpha will put the moori in their place. Fronts and mooris don't grow as slow as people believe, the slow growth is more because it takes them 2-3 yrs for males to become sexually mature, but they will easily hit 5-6" in the first year, and then slow down a lot. I keep mooris with my Mpimbwes, and have had no problems. I would say go for it, but keep an eye out for aggression, and to also feed the fish on seperate sides of the tank, because the moori are much faster and active and will steal all the food if you don't. If you absolutely want to make sure, then wait until you get the 125 and add the fronts in there first and then add the dolphins, IMO there should be no problem in the 125.

I agree, you will want more than one front in there when you add the fronts in.

thks......i will add more and get my 125 ASAP......

btw, my new front keep digging the sand around the rock, i've 1 plastic pot for him but he choose to ignore it..lol.....and no mooris dare to enter his territory...lol
