i have a proquatics 1600 givin to me thru a second party and it wont startup.it kind of wants to and make the water move a little at initial start but thats it.it has water in it.i have 10" of water in a 55g(setting up a amozon river terrerium/aquarium.the intake is about 2" below the waterline and the outtake is about 10" above waterline,could this be the problem.plus i cant even get the darn cap open!grrrr

Very well might be the problem....Do you have air trapped in the lines by chance-This will also greatly slow down the flow rate...
how would i tell?plus arent canister filters used all the time in low water level setups?,thats what im pretty much doing.how is it usually done?ive always used internal filters in low water tanks and im not familiar with canister filters used in this way but i see it done all the time.
To prime my rena xp3 and 4, I fill the canister full of water first, close the lid and then fill the intake hose as full as possible with water to begin the siphon when it is turned on. My filters are also below the tank by about 5 feet. They seem to be working well for the past 6 months or so.
Make sure your intake line and filter is full of water with no air pockets. If there is air at the pump head, it wont pump anything.fangsalot;2524477; said:
