4" female nanolutea seems to really like the male
I have no fears of them hybridizing, Amatitlania pair by size, and she is by no means the biggest female in the tank
Myrnae is such a pretty fish and they are sweet to keep. Also I wouldn't be so sure about that nanoluteus not being able to turn his head. it's not so much size determinate as aggressive drive to spawn. imo.
Agree with jonese4
These species are so closely related, they could easily interbreed, and size of females and males, there is often quite a size difference

I'll have to dig back to get the citation but there was a study that determined that pairing in Amatitlania is based on size. Largest females pair with the largest males, and smaller pairs sort themselves accordingly. I have observed this in my colonies. Hence my statement that she isn't the biggest female in there. To Duane, my remark with her size was less about their ability to breed, more about the fact that the male myrnae would prioritize a 5" female of his species over a 4" female of another. I have had 6" males pair with 2" females just fine.
Regardless, the big original pair has since died of unknown causes. I came back from a trip to both of them dead. Their daughter is still alive though.
