Hi everyone.
It getting to mid-winter and im having a daily temperature fluctuation in the tank. In the morning its around 24ºC/ 75ºF and reaches 27ºC/80ºF by late afternoon. Im running one 300watter Jager heater.

In nature the fluctuations would also occur and since it isnt that big maybe the fish will adapt.
Lower temperatures would mean decreased metabolism and the beneficial bacteria activity will drop.

Should i be worried and get another heater or just wait it out?
Does anyone elses temp fluctuate?

You should always have multiple heaters in case of malfunction, i had to learn that the hard way. You will also get a even heat throughout a large tank and your readings will be more stable, I run 3 ,250w heaters in my 240g.

now that's a fish fanatic for you!!:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

you should really have 2, and IMO anything over 200gals should have a wet/dry and then you can keep the heaters in there

My tank fluctuates like that too , so there is really no need to be worried. But, what do you have your heater set at? If you have it set at 80 then you need to get another heater because one isn't enough. If you have it set at 75 then there is no need to worry because the heater is keeping up with what you have it set at. And it is just the heat outside warming the water.

Thanks for all the advice. I added another 200W heater in, i guess the electric bill is going up this month.
