With winter approaching the house gets colder at night. My treefrog is a native species in a ten gallon tank with a wire mesh lid and cycled layer of water below him (guppy) and lava rocks piled up to support the floor he lives on, which is made of plastic screen and an orchid. The water is kept warm by the pump that filters the water, but the air is exposed to an increasingly cold temperature downswing, like 50ºF over night to 70ºF during the day. What should I expect here? Hibernation? Should I feed him less? I've noticed he is gaining weight even on an already reduced feeding schedule. Should I try to winter him outside? This is my first winter with my frog and I don't want to trust random internet sources, but rather people with experience.
