daily water changes

is a daily 15% water change good for discus or does it stress the fish out to much

there are many different opinions... the guy at my lfs says i dont even HAVE to do water changes that often...(I have a planted tank) the plants kinda just do its thing and make the water all nice for my discus... some have said water changes everyday... some a few times a weeek. i cant say the people that do water changes are wrong but my lfs owner says its fine and my fish have been fine ever since i got them...

true, THE BEST WAY to make sure water is good is to check all parameters and make sure everything is under control....

are these juvenile discus? I do daily 30% on my juvie discus tanks no ill effects and they are growing like weeds.

yea, just got em 2-3.5 inches.

What size tank, temp, and set-up? I would be doing very frequent water changes as I have heard they omit a hormone into the water during their rapid growth which needs to be removed. Also, you are most likely feeding 4+ times a day, so frequent vacs help keep water quality high.

Depends on a lot of things. Is the tap water in your area hard or what?

i have a 30 gallon but i am setting an 80 gallon up. its usually at 84 F and my water is well water which is very hard. hardness is 300 and i heard that hard water is good for growing discus.

Good luck with well water and discus. I gave up discus when I moved into my current house with well water. Used to change 10 gallons 2x a week in a 75. (too lazy to figure out percentages)
