AT SEA LEVEL
Today i was hanging out chilling on the beach (as usual) and my phone rang so i picked it up and it was my old employer wondering if i wanted to work . I havent worked in a VERY VERY long time so i asked all the details and it sounded really great . Company truck , laptop , a good hourly rate with unlimited overtime and company housing (?:screwy:?) . I asked why the housing and then he dropped the bomb and told me it was in Dallas Texas  . Im a Florida boy and i never saw myself leaving Florida except maybe the Bahamas but never anywhere else . So i have two main questions to all you MFKers that live in or around Dallas Texas . How far of a drive is it to the the Gulf of Mexico ? And do you like living their ? Any pro's or con's will be helpful , i have till the end of the week to decide . Thanks in advance .

Pros

1. Lots of Cow Girls.
2. Cost of living, a bit better than Florida.
3. More Cow Girls.
4. The Gulf Coast is near Houston, but what the heck, Cow Girls man!
5. Great Steak Houses.
6. Did I mention Cow Girls?
7. Cheap Land and Housing.
8. Cow Girls are everywhere!
9. Major Sports Teams with great history.
10. Again Cow Girls.

However, If you can not Stand Cow Girls, stay in Florida. The Housing bust is almost over and Jobs will be back here.;)

I live in the metroplex, and I see absolutely no cowgirls except for when I got to the Stock Yards in Ft. Worth (it's not just for cows, they have a lot of fantastic music venues for the local scene).

It's a ways from any large body of water (maybe 6-8 hours to galveston), texas is a biggg state. Cost of living is fantastic. While I said I don't see a lot of cowgirls, I've never seen anywhere in the country that grows the women quite like texas.

I don't like it, I love it. The only reason I would leave is for a realllyyy good job (which I'm still in undergrad, so I got a while to worry about that).

What are your options if you stay in FL?

i was born in dallas. can't be that bad

Thanks for all your thoughts about Dallas . But after talking with the wife and doing some research on it for myself , i dont think i can be that far from the ocean for the duration of the job . However the contract isnt finalized and the pay rate isnt set in stone yet so if its on the upper of the ball park figures he gave me i can adjust for two years :naughty: . As far as the the cow girls go . I dont know if any thing can beat the tight bodied bikini babes we have in Florida . And as for options in Florida , right now im located in St. Augustine (no work). I can move to Miami and work but i dont get company housing , i have to learn spanish (tried and cant do it) and it only pays 25-30 hour . But if i hold off till next spring i can go to Tampa , where i really want to move to . Decisions , decisions .....

BTW I just threw in the cowgirls stuff in the list to see if you can see past the distractions and focus on what may be important.

In the final analysis what's important is what's good for everybody involved in any decision. Since you mentioned a wife, her needs, should be a very heavy factor in the mix.

I know what you mean about those bikini clad sirens. If you can look past those, you should be fine. Good Luck.
