Took my nephew Josh back to my old stomping grounds of Dallas World Aquarium today now that he's old enough to enjoy the wildlife. Place looks better than I have ever seen it. Took over 150 pics (burnt up two sets of batteries and filled a card). Here are some of the highlights I figured I'd share. It will probably take several posts to get them all up.
Entry path is lined with pools and bird. Asian arowana are in one of them.
Josh liked the birds alot - and I was nervous that he would not be the fish keeper all MFKer's would be proud of:
Blue penguins are on the way up the stairs to the start of the exhibit. they over look a larger pool that is home to black foot penguins.
Tour takes you from the top level of the South American rainforest to the bottom (underwater). Red howler monkeys start you off. Kind of foggy due to the misting system. Warm and humid add to the effect of being in a jungle. However, made it hard to get some of the pics I was hoping for.
Also right away, you are at the top of the 40 foot waterfall, which provides the air exchange for the 200,000 gallon River exhibit which is 7 stories below.
