Hi i am relatively new to this site, i have a 6.5 inch gt and his fins are pretty damaged from a fight with another fish, i moved him to another tank to heal. he has been there for a month and his fins don't seem any better. A friend told me to add some aquarium salt to aid the healing process but it hasn't helped much. I have good water quality. Please help me, i think these are beautiful fish and would love his fins restored to the way they were. thanks

Temp is set at 78 and i do bout 25% water changes every month so i assumed his water was fine. I haven't checked the levels yet but he seems healthy, he eats fine and his color is great, he just has shredded fins. I will check the levels but is there anything i could by to help with healing his fins. I am relatively new at keeping fish so any info is appreciated. I want my fish to be happy and healthy. thanks

I bought a green terror about a week ago too that had very damaged fins but I've been giving it melafix and now about 7-8 days later the fins are almost completely healed.

You need to be doing 25% WC a week not a month. Clean water is a must when there are damaged fins to keep them from getting infected. I would suggest getting a good liquid test kit. Most of us use API master liquid test kit.

Up the w/c's to at least once if not twice a week and remove any charcoal from your filter in the med tank......

Ok thanks for all the advice, I state again im a novice fish owner, i dont want to seem negligent. I will up the wc's n add melafix into the mix.
