My flagtail had been chasing around my odoe trying to suck on his scales and recent starting to do the same with my GATF. Could this be the damage of the flagtail? I'm thinking he catches him at night when the GATF settles down and "sleeps". Or could it be someone else doing the damage with the lights off? Maybe black aro, odoe, silver dollars, or gar but I haven't witnessed any other scrapping between tankmates. image.jpeg

Couldn't be 100 percent sure based on that pic but you should remove the flagtail ASAP.

I have seen pictures of worse damage (even death) from flagtails that developed a liking for scales. It doesn't matter how big or aggressive the victim is; it will succumb eventually.

That's exactly what it seems.. That he's developed a liking for scales, constantly after the odoe. And now this damage to the Goliath.

Whoever it is. Got him good. :)

Only other two I'd suspect would be gar and odoe.

I've never seen any signs of aggression between them. And the damage to only the scales and nothing to the fins is making me think flagtail... I separated the flagtail so we'll see what happens now.

Sometimes the most unassuming ones do the most damage.

Flagtails, plecos and some dithers like silver dollars and pacus too.

I think the flagtail. Like mentioned maybe happening at night. Sit far off from the tank when the lights go out and you'll find out.
