I was scraping the inside of this used tank I got with a razor and I accidentally hit the edge of the seal with the razor. Can anyone give an opinion if this should be fixed or might it not affect the tank. The seal is practically perfect everywhere else. Is there any way to patch over the area?

Silicone won't adhere to itself so no like it won't make a seal if you just add more to it. I have done that before to on my 40 gallon and everything is fine. The size of the tank will play a role in that though because of the water pressure.

It is a 55 g. I've noticed some of my other tanks have nicks and are a little beat up around the edge of the seal and they're not leaking so I'm thinking it will be ok. Any other opinions?

I would test fill it and see if you can notice any water getting into the seam part where the panes of glass attach. That seal is to prevent water from getting to the seam right? Personally I might reseal it if I knew how to for peace of mind.
