After letting my dog out, I noticed a heavy fishy smell coming from my basement. Don't know what made me go check.

I get downstairs and find my 22"+ aro not in his tank!!!

After a frantic search of the floor, I found him across the room. He had popped the glass top (Heavy ones I might add) open and out he went.

Well he was pretty sticky already, but into the tank he went. After about 20 minutes of pulling him back and forth to get water over his gills he started to breath on his own.

Total time of fishy CPR 45 minutes. He is swimming on his own, but is still iffy.

Will be going back to check on him throughout the night.

Damn fish!!

Updates to follow.

Hope all goes well for ya. Heavy lids are great, but generally ya need more weight on top that that.

Just checked on him again. Swimming pretty close to normal and no gasping/heavy breathing.

Except for some bloody spots on his fins, would never know he was on the floor for who knows how long.

On damn tough fish!!!!!!

I have 6 3/8" glass tops and placed two of these across each of the already heavy glass tops. Hopefully this will keep him in.

This weekend I am going to fashion some sort of frame to go across the top, down the side and it will hook underneath the stand. Going to make one the hinged portion and one for the staionary portion.

Will look like hell, but will keep him in for sure.

The great part is you were right there..nearby.. i hope he does okay.. i am happy he has the chance..let us know!

If that is a plexi tank I'd just install some clips that could swing easily to lock in the tops and swing out of the way for servive...Plexi drills easy and nylon screws are easy to source as well...
Great save by the way!
