Anyways i seperated my gulpers and later noticed my large female had a punture wound by her anal fin. I really don't know what caused it but im thinking it might of been one of the male fins poked her while i was gathering them in a group to net the smaller ones. Im hoping she will be okay since shes the only large female i have. I added some salt and have the heat around 81. Also are gulper fins sharp like bull heads. Thanks for any infos

what did you feed her last? i cant imagine that anything would really cause a puncture wound except maybe other fins like you said. fins are the really only rigid part of their body. i dont know what else to tell you and i probably havent helped much, but thats all i know about cats :) hope she gets healthy soon.

all catfish pectoral fins are used for defense as they are sharp and barbed and will make a puncture wound

Nevermind my mind must be playing tricks on me. I swear i saw some loose skin and a puncture wound but in the moring it was gone. Im thinking maybe it was shedding.

So i wasn't seeing things. I can see two white patches close to her anal fin. Im hoping she's not scared for life but its not that bad. Im thinking more of heater burn but its kinda weird im touching the heater and its not that hot where it would burn my finger.

shouldn't be anything to worry about. Mine have had marks on them as well from time to time. They are a tough fish but clumsy in a way. the main concern would be infection, other than that they heal pretty quick. I thought you had all males?
