Hello MFK

I am not against hybrids but a really interesting thing is going on in my tank right now.

My current tank boss a socofoli is spawning with a young red zebra. It is confirmed, she is holding and her throat is just getting more swollen as I type.

Its her first spawn so probabilities are it might not go full term unless I strip.

Has anyone seen this combination?

Is it worth the time to strip?

Just searching for viable answers and feedback to go through the trouble of stripping.

Mbuna commonly interbreed among species, all it takes is a dominant male, and a willing partner. I have seen a ton of hybrid crosses over the years, but not specifically this one. Not sure why you would strip, unless for some reason you want to keep the hybrid offspring? Personally I would allow her to spit in the main tank, and let nature take its course.

Yeah this dude is a horny lil bugger.
Well to be honest I was thinking of stripping to see the outcome.
Im sorta intrigued and the possibility.

Maybe a muted red zebra with black striping? Idk, but after seeing this I am interested.

I have never seen species spawning with other species. (In my tanks)
Granted I have never kept a mixed species tank in any less than a 100 gallon.
I really need to move so I can get bigger tanks.
