I just got home ran down stairs to see my friends, and the new bala I bought is covered in ick. I am freaking ticked, I know its my fault for not putting them in a QT tank. I guess its off to the store to buy some salt, and Time to Bump up the heat.

The funny thing is I was just commenting on someone who was fighting ick.

ick usualy has to do with stress so if you just make things unsressfull for him may be some one fin nipping or hes just new to the tank dont get me wrong the salt will help but a healthy non stressed fishes immune system usually can cure ick alone

I have only had ick once before when I only had a tank up for like 3 weeks and tossed in about 7 fish N00b.

I was aware that it was something stress related, but I always thought you where supposed to crank up the tank to around 86 and add salt to make it heal faster, and reduce chance of rapid spreed.

The fish are very new only about 4 days now, The current is much stronger in my tank then in the petland tanks. Plus from the look of how they ate the first few days I would say petland feed sinking food where as i feed floating.

I just added a 5" mahseer to my 180, and 3 of my fish got ich.

I left the temp at 76, and just added 2 cups of salt, and it was gone in 2 days.

1 cup salt per 100 gallons is .3% salinity which is healing/treatment percentage.

i just did the same thing, threw in a gold sev in my growout tank and BAM - ick. wah wah wahhhhhhhh
