So my LFS can get in little cortez rays, I am planning on putting it in a 75 gal grow out tank. I question is It will have to go right next to my bed. If i some how gets out of the tank would it sting me lol. And how can I keep it from getting out.

Oh and if I get stung it wont kill me, right?

HAHA, you worry just like me!:nilly:

Well - I've heard of people getting stung by stingrays. - but it rarely fatal - unless your unlucky enough to get stung in the heart (like Steve Irwin did). Although a sting from a stingray can be very painful.

Also it's very doubtful a stingray will sting you unless your doing something very wrong - like attempting to step on it or scare it.

Also some aquarists have been known to clip off the stinger, so the ray won't sting other fishes in the tank or accidental sting the aquarist. But eventually the stinger will grow back.

With the right top, the ray won't get out.
I do suggest using a lot more caution that a lot of people take. As someone who has been tagged in the past and has seen a 'calm' ray get spooked and strike, they are not nearly as perdictable as they seem. People get lulled into a false sense of security.

Just be highly aware of where the animal is when doing things like cleaning the tank. Avoid even being on the same half of the tank if possible, move slow, and just take time. If the ray is aggrivated or active, come back later.

You should be fine as long as you respect the animals for what it is.
