Dark Cichla

My 14 inch mono is always dark and I dont know why he would be. He is with no other cichla and there are severums, an arowana, JD, Clown Knife, Red Tail Cat, and a few others in with him. I have tan gravel, and the lighting is not the best. Tha background is also dark blue.

One thing I thought of was to get some plants for cover?

He acts normal, and he changes colors from dark to light.

just display mood....my old 13'' mono did that all the time.

yeap.
if hes acting totally normal,theres nothing to worry about.
all my cichla do that,especially the dominant ones.

you think he will lighten up when he is larger?
