Too much nitrates! How often do you do water changes? What % ? What is your nitrate level now?

Water changes... Water change, water change. Lower your temp if its above 80.

got any pics? sounds like it could be BGA which is in fact caused by LOW nitrates. see the algae guide in the stickies

Cyanobacteria from the sound of it. If its slimy and comes up in clumps and smells bad its Cyanobacteria. Feed your fish wait an hour or so pull out what you can manually do a big water change then cover the tank with something that lets no light in and leave it on for at least 3 days. No peeking, no feeding the fish for the 3 days. Then take the cover off and do another big water change and it should be gone. Cyanobacteria is a bacteria that uses photosynthesis if the BO doesn't work you can also use the non prescription Erythromycin to treat the tank.
