So, I just wanted to do a bit of a general update on my ansorgii. He is about 5 inches long and when I got him, he was very washed out and didnt have too much in the way of patterning or anything. In order to darken him up, I put him (as well as the rest of my poly's) on black sand with a bit of red mixed in, and I love the results. Four weeks later and I can already see a huge difference in his color.

This is it when I first got it.

Pardon the flash but this is him now. His colors are really coming out and darkening. I can really see it in his head.

All this being said, this darkening can be seen in all my poly's, especially the delhezi and both buettikoferi.

Hi.
Your fish is a hybrid of Endlicheri x Congicus.
You should get strong patterning from the Endli genes, and a higher ratio of red will boost the contrast making the patterns more defined, and "pop".

Here in Japan the ratio used is 80-90% red (crushed garnet) to 10-20% black.

I'm not very good with hybrids but i'm with mike the face looks like angsorii and the pattern looks like endli. In my opinion if it was a endli x cong from what i've seen the color is the only difference other than when they get older and the congicus gets way bigger. But i'm on mike with this one

Definitely not an EndlixCongicus.

LOL, my bad...
Typo, should have read Endlicheri. 😱

But like I said, the Endli genes should make the black markings more pronounced whatever the substrate. (IMO)

Sorry Mike, I couldn't see what the doubt was till I spotted my typo!
