My retic pup has been acting better and eating better than ever. Whats odd, to me at least, is that his color went from dark brown to very light brown. He's eating good, playing in the sand digging craters..swimming well, etc. All water parameters check out 100% good. He's on white sand in a well lit tank. Will they adapt their color somewhat to their surroundings, change as they age, or anything else? Something I should be looking for?

Probably just the light substrate. Rays can change color as they age but given that yours is young I'd guess it's just his surroundings. Glad he's doing better.

I have also noticed, along with his digging craters, he's burying himself a LOT more... I had thought this was only when they were stressed or frightened of something. Is this actually a normal activity? Sorry for the dumb questions.......

My rays will bury themselves if they are startled, if I have my hands in the tank or if I change a large portion of their water. Basically whenever they are scared or something seems different to them. They also blow the sand around looking for food. Unless there is a tank mate bothering him I wouldnt be too concerned.
