so my new 30 gal grow out is finally ready for some bichirs and it currently has pfs in it. havent kept bichirs in awhile and almost forgot that the light color of the sand will wash out their color and contrast. just wondering what ways i can use to darken up the sand a bit to make my future bichirs colors really pop. thanks

colton no way youre back too ?! haha .

try sandblasting supply places or like warehouses for that sort of thing. here in socal we have a local place called kleen-blast. try looking at places like that ! thats where we get crushed garnet down here. also 3m colorquartz is discontinued bro

haha yeah im back :grinno:

been searching sandblasting supplys but everything ive come up with is wholesale that doesnt sell to the public and others are actual shops where you get stuff done. i was thinking of mixing in a small bag of brownis- red aquarium gravel (looks natural) to the sand, not sure how well that would work with the bichirs. i wish i still had my slate tile i had in my last tank, would of worked out great haha.

In my 150g I had PFS. I mixed a complete bag of tahitian sand and it looks 100x better imo.
