So I just got baby loaches that only eat blood worms for the time being. I hate blood worms due to a good number get missed and sucked into the filter after feeding. I would say 1/10 of the worms get sucked up after feeding (during feeding the filter is slowed) how bad is this on my nitrate level? This is a 75g and it have a fx5 and xp4 on it. And I do weekly water changes of 20g. Or should I be ok? Filters are cleaned every month and a half.

One thing you could do is just to turn off the filters during feeding to prevent as much getting sucked in... now as far how bad it might be for your filter... sadly i'm not sure?

I do turn them pretty much off so none get sucked in during feeding. But after with that amount of current in a 75 it blows what ever is left back up into the water then the filter.

If you cover the intake with a sponge the loaches might even eat the bloodworms off the sponge and then you can remove any excess by rinsing the sponge after feedings
