so my female RES was pregnant with eggs. and the father was the common map turtle so i was pretty excited for her to lay her eggs. well, she laid them all in the tank instead of the sand and destroyed/ate 11 of 'em lol.

oh well, atleast she wasnt egg bound.

They'll do that. I've had a WPT lay in the water and the eggs were viable, if they're still looking decent it's worth trying to save them (obviously not the eaten ones). I am curious whether a slider and map could have viable offspring, my male YBS often tries to court my female Mississippi map, but she ignores him and he hasn't tried to escalate things (at least not yet).

If the female ate the eggs, they weren't viable...........Natural selection would've did them in a long while ago if they did that......

x2. They were probably infertile because of the different species. sort of a good thing, I am not a fan of hybrids....

My Stinkpots do that from time to time as well. I've incubated the eggs in the past when they were laid in the water but they never hatched.

My female RES layed 6 eggs in her sand area which is great cause that's why i built it! However a few weeks after this she layed an egg in the water and ate it, the most messy/ discusting thing she has ever done. I have to do a 200% water change. (100% WC but the water was still weird so i did another)

About a week later did it again but i got that egg out, then a week later again and ate it. Not sure why she layed 6 in the sand and now she won't. Maybe cause I pulled them?

But yeah at lest she is laying them and not egg bound.
