I am redoing my 200gallon, and thinking about dats and loachs. I have 2 6-7" dats and was wondering if they would go with all types of loachs? Anyone try this? I have clowns, blue boita, skunk, geto, polka dot, and yoyos I wanted to try. It will have hiding places also.

thanks for replys

Providing the Loaches are large enough not to be eaten, I'd say go right ahead. I have Clowns with my NTT, but he seems to always chase them .

I had some small ITs with a group of CLs. The CLs died off within a week. I wasn't sure if the Dats were picking on them or if it was a freak coincident.

right now i have 8 clown loachs with 1 dat, smallest around 3" and it is working out great. I dont think the clowns are what I have to worry about, its the other species that I am. Smallest loach I would like to put in the tank would be around 2-3". Anyone ever try dats with other species of loachs besides clowns?

Thanks all.

dats have a problem pecking at the new commers for a little while then after that its friendly with most fishes. i threw in one of my flowerhorns in there and it got pwned after like good 30 mins of pecking and chasing around they are going really good now.

looks like my idea of a dat/loach tank might work.

Another question.

My intakes are pvc pipe with holes in them. Do you think the loachs might try and go into my intakes?

The Dats will eat your smaller loaches. Clowns or YoYo's.
