Dat Availability

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there's really no "season", as they're available year round.

it's just the matter of when they're available to US importers.

they are as common in Asia as oscars in the US, but not all exporters are willing to sell to the cheap Americans when there's a big market for them right at home.

Here in hawaii they are seasonal. We hardly ever get them, and if we do its because we beg our lfs owner. My boss just told me that the price is $100 each and he dosent even know the size. WTF! Oh well, I just might have to get it.

Aww.. bummer! I woke up this morning, having my coffee, and was going to post a similar question. I will be moving my MiniMonsters soon to a bigger tank, and would like to get one of these guys during the transition and break up of territories.

Pair of Texas Cichlids, 2 unsexed JD.. so lonely!

in INdonesia, wide bar dat is very very very rare and i think the wide bar dat is 'protected' in Thailand? cmiiw here...but never actually seen wide bar dat for sale in here..

Here in the us , there was also a sudden influx of ngts here. So much so that prices temporarily went down.

The NGT's were going for about $40 to 60 $US. The weird thing is that the smaller ones were more expensive (3 to 4 inches) and the larger ones were cheaper (6 to 8 inches). However the smaller ones colouration was a lot more vivid. The larger ones looked washed out and sick.

The only widebars i've seen in a fish shop in Hong Kong, is one where they have all types of monster fish and they only have one 10 incher in a display tank and is not for sale. I'm in canton at the moment and their fish market here is EFFIN UNBELIEVEABLE! Not joking. Imagine a 50,000 square foot open market. There are literally 100's of shops and everything is a third of the price of things in hong kong. My dad bought a piece of bog wood for his 180g the dimension of it are about 18 inches wide 10 inches tall and 6 inches thick. Came with anubias, java fern and java moss already attached for a grand total of 50RMB Thats about 7 dollars US. not even.. Going back today. Will take 100's of pics. you guys will not believe this ****.
