Hello all

I have 5 Dat size ranging from 5 to 9 inches 4 of them have a more copper color most of the time but sometimes they bless me with a nice golden color and 1 of them is always golden.

I have 2 questions
1- what regulates theyre color ?
2- the one that is always golden scratches on rocks and driftwood often is that normal

Please note that my water parameters are 0ppm Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite and Nitrate are between 10 to 40ppm depending on how much i feed them.
I do have a continuous drip system in the works but at this point i do about 16% 3 times a week

first off i think you would be better off doing a 50% weekly change.

as far as colour goes some of mine are a golden colour and some are a rusty colour - i think its a regional difference.

the scrathing or flicking is normal for tigers but excessive flicking may indicate gill or body flukes.

how long have you had them?

Stable tigers colours vary;
I have gold, orange redish gold, some are White/gold, bronze or coppery/gold,.... if that makes sense.
Lungfish is right re flicking, excessive chronic persistent flicking like mad is not too good, but every now and then is normal.
If you do a search and enter "stable unstable" you'll eventually find out that the reasons for what makes them stable ; are still largely unknown, and what makes one tiger stable is never guaranteed to work for another...
If all u look for is stability in a tiger, u will find them a challenging fish to keep.
I just love watching them feed!!
If that's your tank in the avatar ; wow! How big?

Im not really looking for stability in my tigers but it would be great to have them all bright all the time .
