I've an 8" Indo in a 100g with 3 bichirs. I'm thinking of adding a small shoal of something as Dither fish. The Indo tends to hide under the filter most of the time. Tried adding a medium sized Oscar to bring it out but it hammered it instead. Thought of Prochilodus or Pink-tailed Chalceus which are avaoilable ay my LFS but read these don't do well in groups. Any ideas?

You can get one of each. The prochilodus wil be an active swimmer, while the chalceus will mostly stay in one spot occasionally swiming back and forth.

yeah prochilodus are great dithers.

Went to my LFS today-no Prochilodus and the Chalceus were too small. Ended up getting 3x 4-5" Silver Dollars. The Indo did check them out and actually coloured up the most I've seen but the test will be when I turn the lights on later.

The chalceus does well in groups of 6+ or by itself. They are constant swimmers, also very jumpy fish. silver dollars will do better imo, but dats are shy when young anyway.

Where in UK you from, your lfs sounds alright

Eastbourne-the LFS has a good if somewhat pricey selection. Very good for L nos, unusual characins and stingrays, arowanas, polys and catfish.
