got 4 thinbars about 4 1/2" long that i've had for 2mths now and they're really really shy and was wondering does this change and also what's the best food. can only seem to get them to eat chopped shrimp at the moment but they seem to be going off that. all suggestions welcome

on the shy issue their tank mates are 5 clown loaches and a couple of plecs (2 bristlenose and a l253).

My 4-4.5" Silver Dat I feed on pieces of supermarket Tiger/King prawns, cockles (very keen on these), lancefish and earthworms (these are great for getting them fat). Tried supermarket squid but interested. Tried not feeding them for a couple of dyas and then introduce the new food. I started specially feeding it using tongs to ensure it got the food.
I find at that size they are skittish-most reports I've read so this changes as they grow.
Why don't you try a small shoal of fish to see if this brings them out (Silver Dollars, Congo Tetras etc)?

my 2'' ngt is finally taking frozen bloodworms....give it a try!!! and yes when they are smaller they are skittish!!

-- I turn my filter off and swish the bloodworm cube around and let them sink down to him, i also feed red wiggler worms (i have not seen him tak any yet though!!)

give the new tigers a good feed of what they like then just offer the food you want them to eat pellets may be a problem

just offer the food you want them to eat daily it may take upto 1 month before they start feeding just dont give into to them or you wont get anywere

the rules in my tank is eat or die and i have not had a tiger die yet

i have had 2 thin bars go without food for 5 weeks then they started eatting prawn
