the JD will outgrow the dats after about 1.5 years. But u should be ok for first year. By then u should upgrade to bigger tank.

Whenever the dempsey tries to harrass them it may be time to separate them. An AT may be able to hold its own as they are very active. The dat will get bigger than the dempsey and than it won't mess the dat. I have kept Dats and all sorts of cichlids without problems. You have to keep an eye on things, no doubt.
