Dat in a tank with a Dempsey?

Hey all! First time posting!
I have experience with Dats in the past -- and I'd like to have one again.

My tank is empty with the exception of a pretty docile (read as Lazy) 10-in, 8 year old pleco.

I'm considering chatting with my LFS for another Dat, but I'm also considering a Jack Dempsey... I realize this is often an either/or situation -- but also wondering if anyone has had success with JDs and Dats as tankmates?

If not - it'll just be a Dat and that old-man pleco.

Any thoughts?

It seemed like tank stats were close -- but indonesian vs central american temperament was the biggest concern I had.
I liked keeping a solo Dat anyhow.. the last one I had was like a semi-aggresive fish-puppy.

Yep,every now and then I'll come across an aggressive dat but most of mine are pretty peaceful.I suspect that a Dempsey would get comfortable and become dominant before the dat would.
