Hey everyone,

First time posting here! I just recently purchased my very first Dat. Got myself a 7 inch NGT from my LFS. Great health, vicious eater! Wanna know what Tony the Tiger did yesterday, I put a bag of feeder minnows to climatize into the tank... I go to the room next to the tank room, and all I hear is WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP! I get back, Tony ripped the bag open and the minnows swam out... pretty crazy stuff! I was amazed!

When I purchased Tony, he was kept in FW. So I've got him in FW. I was just wondering when I should start adding salt. I'm gonna dump a cup full of aquarium salt into the tank just to "clean" it after I finish treating the water in a few days.

I'm treating the tank with MelaFix right now just to get things nice and clean. I'm gonna treat with PimaFix a week after this treatment.

Here is a picture of my tank. You can see Tony on the right side of the tank.

I cant directly post pictures into posts 'cause I'm so computer disabled :P

Hes in there with an 8 inch Clown Knife ( Carl the Clown ) and a FeatherFin Syno. ( Cindy the Synodontis ). Eventually, when Carl gets big, he'll have to be put into a larger tank so it'll only be Tony and possibly another Tiger :D

Well, I'm out for now!

See ya around guys and gals!

Mike

dont add salt you dont need it

Beautiful NGT! Its nice colors are telling you not to add salt. It's doing just fine.

very nice ngt and tank

Awesome, so I'll never have to add salt? I was told that since they are brackish that once it gets bigger it'll need some salt... And the only reason why I wanna add just a cup for now is to keep the tank somewhat sterile... Input?

BTW, thanks for the compliments guys :D

NGTs occur in FW and BW environments in nature, so they can be kept in FW. If you keep it in FW, make sure that the water is buffered against pH drops. I keep mine with a very small amount of salt (1 tsp/gallon) mainly as a precautionary measure against the unknown "datnoid disease", which is thought to be of bacterial or fungal origin.

Nice tank and a very nice looking NGT! ;)

NICE; that NGT is stunning....
