hi i have been wanting to get some dats for a while but i dont know that much about them the main thing that i would like to know is their growth rate and max size of the diff species. thanks

ST- widebar dat
AT- silver dat
IT- indo dat
NTT- thin bar dat
NGT- New guinea dat
AT and NTT top out around 12"
NGT around 16"(biggest size I've seen)
IT and ST 18-24"
Usually average a inch per year. Faster as they are smaller, like under 6"

they grow slow, very slow

they are no oscars... but i have two of mine on hikari carnivore pellets, theyve grown 4" in 3 months, but the other one which i had at the same size that eat only shrimp hardly grew. so i believe what you feed them makes a difference.

i aslo agree that they can grow fast, if you power feed then you will see huge growth but if you only feed once or twice a day then it will grow quite slow

i have mine on food sticks and massivore in a 125 and they even grow that quick

Majority says that they grow slow. A single or group setting would also be best. They are territorial and having a pair is not a good idea. Get either one or a group of 3 or more...more like 6 I think is good. My group grew from 1.5" to 5" in a year.
