Hello all.... My LFS has in a beautiful young NGT datnoid, I was wondering If I could put it in a 100 gallon with a lima shovelnose catfish, a small severum, a small geophagus steindachneri, and two senegalus bichirs?

That should be fine. NGTs are slow growers that max out around 14 inches. Your tank is 18 inches wide, I presume given the standard dimensions of a 100 gallon (60"L x 18"W x 22"H), so even a full grown NGT would be able to turn around. Thus, it would work, although a wider tank would be better for a full grown NGT.

Thank you very much! Since you say they are slow growers I am guessing it would take a few years to get that big... I definatley plan on having a bigger tank by then

Oh, and also, the dat will accept prepared food like pellets and frozen mysis shrimp, as well as cocktail shrimp, right?
You will be able to get an NGT to eat frozen krill, frozen brine, frozen mysis, shrimp, and, possibly, although not guaranteed, pellets. IME, NGTs are less picky than most dats. Most of mine will readily eat Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets off the substrate.

I find the same to be true, my NGT at about 2 inches takes tetra monster pellets, and tetra krill. none of my other dats did that with out training.

Well I am going to the place that has it today, if it is reasonably priced I will get him, if not... I guess I could pick up a bichir. Ill also check the procetag of a widebar they have with a full belt :)

even if you put a NGT in a 3ft tank it would still be OK in 2yrs time :D

whoo... I really didnt know what to expect with the price... but at the moment, 140 is too much for a 3.5 inch fish :(

Maybe Ill save up. Anyway, I picked up a senegal bichir which I love :D
