dat= tank size

hie I juz got a thin bar dat lately and put it into my 3 ft tank but its totally become unstable-hiding beside the filter, black bar become all white....but when i moved it to my big 5 ft tank, it instantly become stable...what should i do ?? i want to grow it out 1st in the 3ft tank before joining the monsters in the 5 ft tank...
