Dat water ?

I know MANY of you have datnoids - do any of you keep them in full freshwater ?

I just use a small amount of salt, that I have always used in all fresh water aquariums. It helps build the slime coat, and repel parasites. Around 2 teaspoons for 5 gallons of tank.

I think that most dat keepers on MFK keep their fish in freshwater....Rodger are you referring aquarium salt that you use?

I actually just use canning (non-iodized) salt. When I got in the hobby there was no such thing as aquarium salt. I am old.

I think 99% of mfk members use FW only and only use salt when tiger is sick.

If water is good quality and diet is varied and good quality, then a fishs slime coat should be in good condition too.

I use aquarium salt, 1tsp/20g as a slight preventative to infections from small fin tears, scratches etc and only add more after every technical 100% W/C (say 10g/week in a 100g, I would add more salt after 10 weeks.)
