Dating advice?

Well, I just learned that all but one or two of my friends will be moving away in the next year or so, so I guess I need to find someone to spend time with (I tried the whole me-myself-and-I thing, it didn't work) - I need a girlfriend. I'm not using MFK as a dating site, but I'd like some advice at least.

I can't say I have ever been in an actual relationship with anyone, I have had a few friends who were girls but never an actual girlfriend. Anyone have some tips on how to get out and meet someone, as a "shy guy"? I have been screwed over on dating sites, so I'm not signing up for any of that

I've never met a girl at a bar or at the mall or whatever and built a relationship from that. any girl I've ever dated were girls i met in school, at work or through friends/coworkers. with the exception of my current gf but that an adventure in itself.
anyways, if your friends have girlfriends or single female friends, or their gf have single friends, then that might be a starting place. meeting someone through mutual friends.
its easy in situations like i mentioned above because there is a common interest or, in the case of being hooked up by a friend, you both know why you're there so there is that common interest.

That's what I was thinking, hopefully a few of my friends know someone. I do a few community service things too, so I might try meeting someone there.

I probably could've met someone a while ago, I just never got around to it. I got screwed over pretty badly by a girl about a year ago and never got back into it.

try to meet someone through the community service thing.
or mention this to one of your friends. one of my past, better relationships was through a coworker hooking me up with a friend of hers. it didn't last, obviously, but i was able to meet someone that way.

Yeah, right now I'm just focused on meeting people. Eventually, I'm sure to meet the right one doing that.

I just realized how odd the word "oompa" looks on its own, lol

also, i think an "all time low" is more in the realm of finding yourself laying on the bed of a 40$ motel room with a prostitute smoking crack in the bathroom...

no shame in asking a forum full of guys (and a couple ladies) of all ages for some dating advice.
