They have a couple of these guys at my LFS, good looking fish. about 3". Quite expensive.

I have googled these guys and have found mixed info regarding Water type. Some say Brackish some say Brackish to alkaline Freshwater. Can they realistically exist in Freshwater on a long term basis?

Thanks

I keep mine in high alkaline with some salt. Nowhere near brackish, though. They're doing fine. Eating like pigs, fat, and growing. Keep in mind, I have them in a 650 with 200-300gal water changes done twice a week.

You will find more up-to-date info if you google their current name of Coius campbelli.
Phil, all five species of datnoids are now recognized as belonging to the genus Datnioides following a brief period of time in which some of the species were in Coius and some were in Datnioides due to a taxonomic glitch that I jokingly refer to as Coius Interruptus. :P

Damn!! I never saw the change memo.

Still, when I googled both genus', I found more info with 'Coius' than 'Datniodes'
