I havn't given up hope yet. His mouth and gills are open but holding him in front of a powerhead he is still weakly breathing and slightly moving his fins.

Not sure what happened. I have had the indo for 3 weeks or so, and all of a sudden today he was finally stable and swimming around. I went to prep for the superbowl and come back to him darting and drifting in the tank.

nitrate were between 20-40 everything else was ok. All the other fish in the tank are fine as well. He is in the tank below with my gar, Lap and silver dollars. I cleaned out my big filter thinking oxygen flow could be to blame, but everyone else is fine. He was breathing at the surface.

Any ideas or emergency techniques? I don't think its aggression given his mates, and he was snook21's personal fish so I don't think its flukes.

Pump as much oxygen as you can into the tank, if he gets worse, put him in a separate tank to avoid being killed by aggression while he is weak. Keep water parameters pristine and he should come around soon.

might be flaggelates parasites.

Yeah, looks like some kind of parasite. I would put him in a hospital tank with some salt and boost the temp up.

I wouldn't treat with meds unless u know what u are treating.
From the video, it does look like something is causing it to be irritated based on the sudden erratic movements.
I also think moving him could stress him out more.
I would just do 3 wc per week x 25/30%
u can add salt if u want, but if u are holding him by powerhead, then he must be in pretty bad shape.
Hope it pulls through.

Might be that stable = stress again

do any common foods carry parasites? like earh worms?

it is definately odd, 2 minutes after that video he was laying on his side with his mouth and gills wide open. He looks dead now in a net on the front glass, but when I cut the powerhead off he starts to visible breath.

guess I'll run it over night and see what I get. today at about 1pm he was swimming around and eating.
