So I know datnoids "can't" be bred in captivity and that it really hasn't been proven with repeat results (to my knowledge).
Here's my question. A coworker of mine who's been in the hobby longer than I've been alive and I were talking about possibilities of breeding datnoids and what requirements might be needed to successfully do so. He doesn't know much about datnoids and based what he knows about the Mekong he guessed that they may leave the running waters to spawn away from much larger predators in the river. Similar to how trout move to different waters to spawn.
I won't act like I know a lot about the Mekong or the exact water conditions datnoids live in regularly or when breeding but I thought that may be a possibility. Any one have an opinion or can tell me if I am way off? I'm interested to learn the water conditions and any theories or facts on breeding regardless
Thanks
