Well i just got my datnoids yesterday. I added some salts as a precautionary act. Now today it is 7:30pm and i find one of my datnoids on its side breathing. I told my dad and we prayed because these fish were a fairly large investment for me and a lot of my time has been swallowed by them. So i took him out and put him into my empty 2g planted. Added lots of salt etc. He started doing this right after my first water change with them in the tank

So the parameters of the 55g are:
ammonia: 0.0ppm
nitrite: 0.0ppm
nitrate: 5ppm
temperature: 80F (being put up)

2g:
same as 55g except nitrate is 10ppm

Both tanks are fully cycled. All the other datnoids are fine. Food is frozen bloodworms

Please give some tips

do not overdo the salt
and bro sorry to say but when dats are that tiny sometimes they die

Did you ever think that the "so called" sick dat is just a little stressed from the move? Or is it readjusting to your water and the water change? Or maybe you just added more stress to the dat by moving it in to a 2gal tank. And why would you use salt? does your dat have a external parasite, ich, etc?

Well if a dead dat is a stressed one :( 1 down....

sorry to hear that, but your dats didnt look very good when you got it. I wouldn't have bought dats that looked so skinny to begin with in the first place. Good luck with the rest of it.

Oh dear.... sorry to hear :(

Moving it to a 2 G , was a mistake IMO. A gold fish at a funfare, may survive several hours, but a tiny baby tiger fish....... no way (yours look 'bout 1 inch big)

I can understand why though, as u probably dont want the other new arrivals being affected by the same thing.

How much salt r you using? Try not to move anymore, at that size transporting is quite stressful.

the increase in Nitrates in the 5 g over the 55g is misleading...why? the tiny water volume only multiplies the effect of nitrates present in the 2 G tank. Less water to dilute, and the BB capacity is next to nothing, compared to a filtered tank.
