Here's the deal, I'm looking for people with experience with this fish... I have two new 4" Datnoids and have had them for about a week and a half now. Water quality in their tank is pristine and at a brackish level with the fish eating well and are very healthy. I currently have them in one of my 150 gallon grow out tanks. Other tanks mates include two 7" Cichla Kelberi Bahia Peacock bass (Male & a female). The tank has an assortment of fake large plants, large rocks and plenty of cover. I'll also note when I got them they were in a tank with about 8 other Datnoids and they all were at the bottom "leaning" against the glass walls and decor....They all oddly enough seemed to be pouting....Thought that would change when I dropped them in one of my big beautiful tanks...Nope!!

My question is, is this normal behavior for these fish when their young like this and they grow out of it? If so when? Or is it something else... is there anything I can do to prevent them from laying around pouting all the time??

Deal is, they're really cool looking fish but if all they're going to do is pout, hide and lay around on the bottom they'll both end up lunch for my 17" Mono Peacock Bass B.A...lol

Any advice or help with these guys would be appreciated.

firstly i think they will end up lunch or at least chewed on - tigers are notoriously slow growers they will reach 10" by the time your bass reaches 24" lol.

2 is a bad number for dats. i say 5 at least and that spreads the aggression between them. even then i lost a dat from fighting.

your water doesnt need to be brackish - freshwater is fine for indo's and your bass.
