ok, been reading alot of these threads on dats and feel
a little confused.
i am looking at keeping a dat in my current tank but need some info.
firstly i read that they have big mouths so not to keep fish that will become brunch, having never seen a full sized dat i am unsure what size this is. my smallest fish is a keyhole cichlid who is now 4" (fully grown i think) will he be ok?
second i see that they can be aggressive but not to keep them with aggressive fish
having only really known cichlids you match aggression with aggression, is this not the case?
my fish list is as follows;
2 green terrors, 3" and 5"
3 Convict cichlids 4-5"
1 Keyhole cichlid 4"
1 parrot fish 4"
1 robertsonni cichlid 5"
1 cat fish (sorry type not known) 5-6"
1 Blue Phantom Plec 6"
1 Polypterus senegalus 12"
and last i have a polypterus ornate on the way
Are these fish too aggressive? currently the only fish to show any real aggression at all are the convicts, i am aware that i will have to re-home some of these fish so as not to overcrowd the tank but as they are not fully grown they seem happy (in fact thay get on like a house on fire)
